The Laurel Leaf

This Week At AGS

March 15th – April 8-10th

Here are a few things coming up this week. Please note the following:

  • Tuesday is the Literary Competition for some of our students. The competition is virtual and we will use the MS Annex, dining hall & TKT.  Please be sure to keep the noise level down in those areas.
  • We will have senior speeches during Wednesday’s assembly.
  • You will begin registering for next year’s classes in advisory this week.
  • UPPER SCHOOL STUDENTS, please see the note from Coach Floyd below regarding next year’s Disney half marathon…..

We are not sure whether our annual trip to Disney to run the half marathon will be in person next year, but we have to have all of the information ready to go once they make the announcement.
If you are interested in participating in the event next year, please contact Coach Floyd ASAP. This is just for interest and will not bind you to anything. Once I have the names of those interested, I will be sending an email to your parents to get their final approval. Please keep in mind that while this is a fun trip to Disney, you also need to train for and run 13.1 miles. Training starts around October. Curious, but not sure? Talk with someone that has come on the trip in the past.

Announcements & Reminders

  • 2021-2022 Course Pre-Registration

Pre-registration for 2021-2022 will open during Advisory through Blackbaud on Monday, March 15th and will remain open through Thursday, March 18th and will close at 11:59pm.

To review the course catalog, how to register and additional pre-registration materials, please visit the Office of the Registrar page on Blackbaud.

Please note: Pre-registration is part of an initial student course request only. This does not mean students will receive their first choice elective(s). All will be done to fulfill all requests but some requests may not be possible due to unavoidable constraints. It is extremely important to choose alternates.

  • Reminders from the Front Desk

Please remember to follow our “No Rescue Policy”, as described in our Community Handbook (embed link). It is an important life-long skills for our students to come prepared each day with all necessary items. This also helps us limit the number of guests on campus as we enforce safety protocols due to the pandemic.

For any student attendance changes, please email [email protected] so that it can be approved and recorded properly on Blackbaud. This will help with tracing purposes and for us to know where the student will be for safety reasons as well.

For any aftercare questions/concerns please contact Sundayah Reid at [email protected]
